Petrochemicals - Total Petrochemicals

Total’s petrochemicals business consolidates, under the name Total Petrochemicals, base chemicals produced in the steamcrackers and certain refinery conversion plants - olefins (ethylene, propylene), C4 fractions and aromatics (benzene, toluene, xylenes, styrene) -, as well as the commodity polymers they produce (polyethylene, polypropylene and polystyrene). With over 7,000 employees, Total Petrochemicals conducts its operations in Europe, the United States, the Middle East and Asia.

In Belgium, in addition to its decision centre, which includes in particular the activity’s 4 business units in Brussels, Total Petrochemicals also operates a research centre as well as two of its largest petrochemicals facilities in Europe, in Antwerp and in Feluy. Either adjacent to each other or interconnected via a 375 km cross-country pipeline network operated by Fina Antwerp Olefins, these facilities form with the refinery one of the hubs of the Group’s integrated industrial base in Europe. In polypropylene, Total Petrochemicals enjoys fourth place in the world with a 2.4 million tonne annual production. Belgian production accounts for 850,000 tonnes.
