Petroleum Marketing in Belgium is operated
by Total Belgium which is responsible for the
distribution, in various markets, of an extensive
range of petroleum products and specialties for
use by consumers and industry alike.
Societal responsability
 As part of its activities, Total Belgium takes part in a number of societal initiatives aimed at boosting road safety and youth welfare. In this context, Total has been sponsoring since 2005 the independent association Child Focus, which provides support in cases of missing, abducted or sexually exploited children. Total makes its network available to Child Focus, to provide assistance in the search for missing children, offering the association not only a vast communication platform, but also, given the location of service stations on the road network, an ideal place to launch missing person posters in particular within a few hours of the individuals being reported missing. Through this complementary dimension, which underpins the partnership, Total can play a major role within the association. Still in the field of child welface, Total also sponsors the association Radio BoBo, which provides entertainment for gravely sick children in hospital.
 As regards road safety, Total set up in 2001 a partnership with the association Responsible Young Drivers, which generally promotes safe driving in young people, by raising their awareness of the hazards of the road. The association’s initiatives, in which Total plays an active part, include in particular Nuit Européenne sans accident, driving people home after New Year celebrations, wearing safety belts, advanced driving courses, the recruitment of voluntary helpers, and the distribution of breathalisers. Finally, Total also sponsors the bus Bob project, involving a bus fitted with a driving simulator and other equipment for the teaching of safe driving. Parked in the vicinity of all kinds of events as these come to a close, the bus aims to educate drivers as to their fitness to take the wheel.
